How to get rid of spam comments in your wordpress blog forever

Spam comments have become  a huge problem for many wordpress website owners. Every day, spammers across the globe use different techniques to leave spam comments to your blog, and to increase their ranking position on search engines.

This can get very annoying especially if you have visitors that are committed to your wordpress website, and you want to separate the real comments from the spam comments.

Luckily, now there is a way to eliminate such spam comments, without having to annoy your real visitors with served captcha(s), and the best part is that this can be done automatically with minor effort from your side.

Ok I’m convinced..how can I do it?

Well, it’s pretty simple, and you don’t need to have any php knowledge at all. Here is what you will need:

1.Akismet Plugin – up and running on your wordpress website. For this plugin you will also need an API key (which it’s free) that can be generated pretty fast and simple here . After your API key is generated, you might want to enter it in your wordpress blog by going to Settings -> Akismet, as seen on the screenshot bellow:

After entering your API key the following screen will appear:

Choose what Akismet should do when detect a spam comment and hit Save Changes.

I prefer the “Silently discard the worst and most pervasive spam so I never see it”, as Askimet has very good spam filters and almost all comments detected are likely to be spam comments. That’s all you have to do regarding Akismet plugin.

2.Conditional CAPTCHA – plugin also needs to be installed. This is a very intelligent plugin, that only serve captcha(s) to the comments detected by Akismet as spam. So, you will not have to worry about your committed visitors, as most likely they will never get any captcha.

Here is how Conditional CAPTCHA configuration should look like

Of course, you can adjust this settings to suit your own needs, but I prefer them just like in the screenshot.

This method has been tested by me, and I can confirm that is very effective, and since I am using it, not a single spam comment was posted on my blog.

Regards to all!
